Product review: 4 Way Hose Splitter - KMASHI Garden Hose Connector with long handles

Image
I like that most of this hose splitter are the long shut-off handles.  They are very easy to open and close. The splitter is made out of metal encased in rubber. The quick connects are plastic, but the other fittings are zinc alloy and give me a tight seal. On the negative side the water outlets are tightly packed. This comes into play if you are using timers. A timer on this splitter covers up two outlets. Some four way splitters have connectors that are angled and they allow an outlet next to the timer to be accessible. For my gardening needs I have multiple timers as well as hoses, so I could not use this splitter in the back of the house. However, in the front I am using one timer on this splitter which means I had to give up one of the outlets as it is blocked. The package includes 10 additional washers (plus one more is already in the hose splitter). You can find it on Amazon by following this link. Product review ★★★★☆

Product review: Flexzilla Garden Lead-in Hose, 5/8 in. x 3 ft.

Image
I bought the Flexzilla 3-foot lead-in house in the spring, so it had been in use for three months. It formed a water tight connection without teflon tape and I like the sleeves that protect the connection from kinking. As a lead-in hose into a four way switch it is always under pressure and has not any leaks so far. You can find it on Amazon by following this link. Product review ★★★★★

Product review: Window bird feeder

Image
We have a large number of bird feeders including four different window bird feeders. This bird feeder one key feature that our feathered friends like. The birds love the little perch. In my video you can see how they use it to crack the seeds. We have another window bird feeder with a different style which does not have a perch and it was less popular until we glued a perch made out of a twig. As soon as we added this twig the bird feeder became more popular. This a pretty large (wide) bird feeder. Several birds can visit it at the same time. Many birds do not mind sharing. Some do, and it is fun to watch the bully birds that make other birds leave - I captured one of these episodes in the attached video. The big size of the bird feeder makes it very comfortable for squirrels to feed from it as well. As you see in attached video, it is big enough to hold two squirrels. The suction cups hold really well, as they are able to hold not only two birds but two squirrels. Squi...

Product review: Rinlong Artificial Green Hydrangea Silk Flower

Image
These artificial hydrangeas look pretty good, from a distance the flowers look quite real, the leaves looks a bit more artificial mostly because they are shiny. I ordered 5 stems and some of the small flowers broke off the main flower during shipping.  However, this made each blossom slightly different in size (I mean fullness) which made them look more real. The flowers were slightly squashed in shipping and as the instructions suggested I fluff them up by hand while blowing them with hair dryer. I found that low volume on the hair dryer worked best.  To fit the vase I wanted to display them I needed to shorter the stems.  I was able to cut the stems  by this method:  using regular scissors I cut the skin and then fatigued the metal wire inside of the stem by bending it back and forth as you see in my video.  The flowers are pretty. You can find it on Amazon by following this link. Product review ★★★★★

Product review: Rinlong Artificial Peony Silk Flowers

Image
These artificial peonies look very real. The blossoms are perfection, the leaves looks a little less so but still quite good.  Each stem has a fully open flower and a slightly open bud.  I ordered 5 stems and I like that the flowers are not identical, this makes them look even more real. The flowers were slightly squashed in shipping and as the instructions suggested I fluff them up by hand while blowing them with hair dryer. I found that low volume on the hair dryer worked best. We have another window bird feeder of a different style which does not have a perch and it was less popular until we glued a perch made out of a twig. As soon as we added this twig the bird feeder became more popular. This is a wide bird feeder (11.75") but pretty short (5" tall). It is 4" front to back. I was not sure if our larger birds (blue jays and morning dives) will find it a bit short, but turns it is not a problem as you can see in the video. Several birds can visit it at the same time. Many birds do not mind sharing. Some do, and it is fun to watch the bully birds that make other birds leave (you can see a cardinal at the beginning of the video shoo away a small bird). These bird feeders are not squirrel proofed, but ...

Product review: IFUNEYS 110pcs Large Glow in the Dark Garden Pebbles

Image
These pebbles glow gently in the dark, they are decorative and not meant to provide any lighting.  In attached photos you can see the effect when they are together and spaced out.  During the day they do not look like regular pebbles, they are white with greenish tones. They are made out of resin, and look like resin rather than stones.  I mixed them into regular gravel for an interesting effect. The pebbles require exposure to the sun during the day in order to glow at night.  How much sun?  A couple of hours, but the more sun the brighter they look. After a full day of light they flow for about 5 hours. The pebbles are made out resins (i.e. plastic) and photoluminescent pigments. The seller describes as non-toxic and non-radioactive. I emailed the seller and asked him how long they are expected to last if I expose them to sun every day of the year.  He told me that I should expect life expectancy up to 10 years. Product review: Gardeneer By Dalen Bird-X Protective Netting 7' x 20'

Image
I purchased this netting in 2013 to protect miniature raspberry bushes from the birds. I have been able to pack it up for the winter and re-use for summers and will be using it again this summer. The size of the netting openings is just right and it was fairly easy to work with. I am attaching a photo which shows the netting on my hand so you can see the relative size of the netting grid, as well as over the potted raspberry bush so you see how it looks from a distance. Overall, it totally lived up to my expectations for protection and longevity. You can find it on Amazon by following this link. Product review ★★★★★

Product review: Folding Garden Kneeler Gardener Kneeling Pad

Image
I spent this entire weekend working in the garden using this kneeler.  It made gardening much easier on my back.  The best part of the kneeler is that when I use it as the kneeler I can use the legs as rails to help push myself up.  I have a bad back and these handles make it so easy on my back! This kneeler comes pre-assembled. All I had to do to unfold the legs.  It 17.5" tall (from the ground to the bench seat) or 3.5" (from the ground to the kneeling pad).  I frequently flip it from the bench to the kneeler, so I removed the pockets from the rails because if you flip the kneeler you need to attach the pockets to the other end otherwise so they don't drag on the ground.  The pad are fairly soft, I like how the feel on knees. To fold the kneeker I use my hand to depress the lever on each side. Otherwise the bench is locked in (which is a good thing for the person who is sitting on the bench).  When folded the kneeler is  23.63" Long x 10.63" Wid...

Product review: Garden Hose Splitter,ZETOLL metal body 2-way hose splitter with long handles

This hose splitter has all metal connections which give me a tight seal and no leaks. The outer shell of the hose splitter is made of rubber. Each shut off valve has a relatively long handle and because it is covered with rubber it feel softer. I like these handles better than the short metal handles on the brass hose splitters I have used in the past. I find these longer handles give me a better leverage and because they are softer I can put more pressure with my bare hands. The package includes 10 additional washers (and one is already in the hose splitter). You can find it on Amazon by following this link. Product review ★★★★★

Product review: EarthlanderPro 2017 Design 50 Ft Expandable Hose + Metal Nozzle + Hose Hanger Gift

Image
I have been using flexible hoses for several summers: I use one to wash the car, another for watering the garden. They are great to work with - they are light and when empty become very short.  However they are more fragile than regular hoses, so you cannot treat them the same as a regular garden hose. Here are a few things I learned: you cannot leave them in the sun when not in use, you can not drag and pull them like you would a regular hose, you cannot step on them when they are full with water. It is best not to hang them to store (this puts pressure on the internal hose).  I store them curled up in a bucket and bring it into the cool basement when they are not in use.  When I use a hose I lay it out in the direction of where I want to use it, fill the water and then streatch it out as needed. I have strong water pressure, so when I use the flex hose I do not put the water pressure all the way up.  I use it at a half force setting. This hose has brass connectors ...

Product review: HOMEE Expandable Garden Hose

I have been using flexible hoses for several summers. They are great to work with - they are light and when empty become very short.  However they are fragile. The main thing you need to know is that you cannot treat them the same as a regular garden hose. This hose require more careful handling: you cannot leave it in the sun when not in use, you can not drag and pull it like you would a regular hose, you cannot step on it when it is full with water, you cannot hang it to store (this puts pressure on the internal hose).  I store it curled up in a bucket and bring it into the cool basement when not in use.  I lay it out in the direction I want to water and only then fill it with water.  I am careful not to step on it and when I have to pull it I pull gently and carefully. I have strong water pressure, so when I use the flex hose I do not put the water pressure all the way up.  I use it at a half force setting.  Before I started using the precautions my flex...

Product review: US Wire 63025 14/3 25-Foot SJTW Orange Medium Duty Extension Cord (outdoor)

Image
I purchased this outdoor cord for my heated outdoor mat, which required 15 amp rated cord. This cord is left outdoors in the rain and snow so I am using it in combination with cord lock (from Farm Innovators) to keep the connection dry. I am writing this review after two winters. So far the connection is staying dry in rain and the cord makes a nice tight and secure fit on both ends.  The cord did lose its bright orange color from being outdoors and is now mail orange in color. The description says the the cord is made in the USA or China. The label of my cord states it was made in China. You can find it on Amazon by following this link. Product review ★★★★★
